The ruins of the 12 century Sherborne Castle. This is generally referred to as Sherborne Old Castle on account of the large Tudor mansion built by Sir Walter Raleigh being known as Sherborne Castle.
The castle was slighted during the English Civil War and left to fall into disrepair over the centuries.
Here you can see the remains of the main castle tower complex and the south west gatehouse.
