Stylish barn conversion and bespoke shepherds hut, perfectly positioned with spectacular views over the beautiful Dorset countryside.
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chisel Barn is a new conversion designed and fitted to the highest standards. The barn consists of two, light and airy properties that, if rented together, will accommodate nine people. Both properties are single storey, with a large, double height kitchen and living space. The bespoke Shepherds Hut can accommodate three people, sits in the garden of Whites Ground and is Farrow and Bull painted and attractively decorated.
Chisel Barn Whites Ground is furnished to a high standard throughout and offers spacious and stylish accommodation. The property retains many original features including exposed beams and limestone flooring. The property is set in stunning countryside and offers far reaching views from the furnished terrace.
The barns were the base for a large and successful dairy enterprise and remain part of a working farm, with the adjoining buildings still actively being used for stock.
The magnificent and commanding views look over the River Stour valley, the dairy pastures of the Blackmore Vale, the churches of Shillingstone and Child Okeford to the south and west, and the Iron Age forts of Hambledon Hill to the north and Hod Hill to the east. A short walk across the farm takes you through a wood and past a lake to the excellent amenities of Child Okeford, or up the steep slopes to the top of Hambledon Hill where, on a clear day, there are views for many miles. Hambledon Hill is a classic example of an Iron Age hill fort and is now a National Nature Reserve famous for its wild flowers.
This is just one of many and varied walks which also include the Trailway along the old Somerset and Dorset Railway (and the newly restored Shillingstone station) to Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum.
For guests who wish to bring their horses, Chisel Barn offers basic barn stabling and grazing at an additional charge of £10 a horse, bedding by prior arrangement and use of the Cross Country Course (beginner to 3’3”), dependant on availability. However, guests would need to supply their own feed, water buckets and other equipment.
