The Old Forge

The Old Forge

Nestled in the heart of the Cranborne Chase, The Old Forge is the perfect retreat for those looking to appreciate the slower pace of life. The 18th Century former Carriage and Wheelwrights workshops have been transformed to create a charming Bed and Breakfast and two self-catering cottages with unique appeal. Constantly evolving, recent years have seen the introduction of Sam and Mabel the Shepherd's Huts and Rosie the 1934 Gypsy Caravan embracing the 'glamping' revolution.

With free Wi-Fi and free parking on site, The Old Forge is an 18th-century carriage and wheelwrights workshop a 5-minute drive from Shaftesbury. The grounds are home to a donkey, 3 friendly dogs, and chickens. Rooms at The Old Forge are traditionally furnished, and each benefits from a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Each room also features an en-suite or private bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer. Each morning, guests can enjoy a delicious AGA-cooked, award-winning breakfast. Dorset muesli, seasonal fruit, and freshly baked bread feature on the menu, along with eggs from the property’s own hens. Apple juice is pressed in the orchard, and meat is from the local butcher. Blandford Forum is a 15-minute drive from the building, and the coast at Bournemouth is less than an hour’s drive away.
