There is a slipway for launching sailing dinghies and small day boats, for residents, within 100 yards. Canoeing is popular in this location, and is ideal for exploring the RSPB nature reserve at Arne and the islands within this stunning harbour. A 5-minute walk leads to Hamworthy Park and beach (used by the more expert windsurfers and kite surfers out of season), with great views across the harbour, Purbeck Hills and Corfe Castle. It has beach huts, a fabulous paddling pool and play areas, including a tennis court. Poole town is a couple of miles away, where you can enjoy the park and quayside, with its cosmopolitan pubs and restaurants, and views out to the National Trust’s Brownsea Island. From Poole Quay, you can take trips to all parts of the harbour, including the golden sands of Sandbanks and Studland, Wareham and beyond. From the ferry terminal in Hamworthy, trips to France and the Channel Islands can be done in a day. The UNESCO recognised Jurassic Coast - England’s only natural World Heritage Site, is an easy drive away, with Swanage, Lulworth and Durdle Door. There are lots of scenic coastal paths for walking and cycling routes. Attractions within the Purbecks include Farmer Palmers, Monkey World, The Tank Museum and Tyneham Village. Beach 200 yards.
