Set in the Blackmore Vale, Hillarnias Tearoom and B&B is in a quiet location just off the A350, 4 miles south of Shaftesbury. Established in 888 it is one of the oldest Anglo-Saxon villages in the country. Rooms at the B&B provides wardrobes, free WiFi, seating areas in each room, tea/coffee facilities and flat-screen TV. There is a private bathroom and shower adjacent to the king room for sole use and the queen room has a roll-top bath with overhead shower fitting. Both rooms have free toiletries and a hair dryer. A continental or Full English/Irish breakfast is included in the price of the stay using local produce from the surrounding farms and suppliers. The B&B also has a shop, post office and tea room attached. The setting is ideal for walkers and cyclists. The local pub is only 3 minutes easy walk away and the owners can organize a table in the restaurant if given prior notice. The property is within easy reach of the Larmer Tree Festival, Compton Abbas Airfield, the Dorset Steam Fair and Shaftesbury's Gold Hill.

Company info

We are Tarnia and Duane and took over in September 2023. We have had a great first few months making much needed changes to the shop and a complete renovation of our Tearooms. We are now in phase 2 of renovating our B&B to create a country boutique with a key focus on customer comfort and satisfaction. We very much look forward to welcoming our guests from the Spring.

Our B&B room is within our family home so you will receive a very warm welcome. We have 2 cats and a small dog and our home is warm and welcoming with zero fuss. We aim to please and have designed our B&B with you at the core focus adding all the necessary details to ensure your stay is positively memorable.

Neighborhood info

Set in the Blackmore Vale we are on the main thoroughfare of the A350 Lower Shaftesbury Road for ease of travel. Our nearest Towns are Shaftesbury at 4 miles and only 7 minutes by car away with the famous Gold Hill and Blandford 15 minutes drive. Our property is in the beautiful village of Fontmell Magna. We have an onsite village shop and gorgeous vintage Tearooms fully licensed so you can enjoy a nice glass of wine during the summer evenings. We have a local pub called The Fontmell within walking distance (torch needed at night) with exceptional food. Our property is just off the main A350 so its very quiet and peaceful for you to relax and wind down! We are in a no light pollution zone so it's incredibly peaceful and great for star gaze lovers.
