  • Sherborne Old Castle

    Ruined 12th century castle built for the Bishops of Salisbury. The castle was destroyed during the English Civil War by Parliamentary forces

    Built in 1594 by Sir Walter Raleigh. Set in 40 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds.

    Whilst now only a parish church Sherborne Abbey has been a Saxon cathedral and a Benedictine abbey. The majority of the building is Norman in origin although Saxon features remain.
