Working 17th c water mill and Museum of Rural Bygones. Also features tea rooms, cafe and craft centre

Set in a peaceful rural valley on the River Manger just outside of Bridport is Mangerton Mill, a 17th century working water mill and home to the Museum of Rural Bygones.

Primarily used to grind barley in its day Mangerton Mill was powered by a wheel measuring 12 feet in diameter and 4 feet wide. Made from cast iron and solid oak the wheel is still one of the mills main features.

Originally made from local sandstone, Mangerton has seen numerous renovations with the most recent in 1986 when restoration began to bring it into full working order.

There is a scenic walk that takes you alongside the river where trout fishing is also available. There is also a tea room on-site and a caravan and camping site.
