Whilst now only a parish church Sherborne Abbey has been a Saxon cathedral and a Benedictine abbey. The majority of the building is Norman in origin although Saxon features remain.
Originally founded in 1765 as a kitchen garden, the site now occupies 20 acres and is stocked with a range of exotic plants many of which were newly-discovered species at the time
Large 11th century castle that now lies in ruins since it was slighted in the English Civil War. It still cuts a majestic form dominating the village below
