Attractions in Yetminster

  • Built in 1594 by Sir Walter Raleigh. Set in 40 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds.

  • Ruined 12th century castle built for the Bishops of Salisbury. The castle was destroyed during the English Civil War by Parliamentary forces

  • Whilst now only a parish church Sherborne Abbey has been a Saxon cathedral and a Benedictine abbey. The majority of the building is Norman in origin although Saxon features remain.
